Kahilu Theatre and YMCA Facility
Waimea/Kamuela, Big Island of Hawaii
HIHS HORSE EXPO 2008 brings together some of the most highly respected horse people in the world for a thought provoking, learning experience on the Big Island of Hawaii. For local residents, it is a rare opportunity to see world class clinicians close to home, and for out of towners, a chance to combine education with vacation.
This year’s theme “The Healthy, Happy Horse – Mentally, Physically, and Emotionally” will be addressed by:
Lester Buckley – A versatile horseman who easily crosses over between the Western and Dressage disciplines, training World Champion Cutting Horses as well as Warmblood Dressage Horses.
Dr. Robert M. Miller - Veterinarian, horseman, trainer, clinician, and author – a man who has devoted his life to studying and interpreting the behavior of horses. The father of “Imprinting” and by many considered to be the guru of natural horsemanship.
Dale Myler – Along with brothers Ron and Bob, designs and manufactures the famous, greatly respected Myler Bits and Spurs. Dale is adept at bitting both English and Western styles and will share his knowledge at this expo. “Re-bitting the problem horse” is a favorite challenge for Dale.
Curt Pate – Trainer, clinician, , and Western Horseman author, Curt specializes in low stress horsemanship and low stress livestock handling. In his capacity as an AQHA Regional Experience Clinician, Curt travels across the U.S. giving colt starting demonstrations and heading trail rides.
The HIHS Horse Expo 2008 will take place in Waimea/Kamuela at the Kahilu Theatre and at the adjacent YMCA park grounds. Power-point presentations, panel discussions, and live demonstrations will be presented each day.
Co-chairpersons for this event are: Mary A. Buckley, photographer and wife of Lester Buckley, and Nancy L. Jones, owner Circle J Horse Sanctuary.
Proceeds from HIHS Horse Expo 2008 go to the Hawaii Island Humane Society to establish an Equine Fund for the care of abused and abandoned horses. Your registration fee and any additional contribution you might wish to make are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
